Cabin
enjoy a rustic, comfortable stay in a restored 18th century cabin
Enjoy a one-of-a-kind stay in our restored 1700s cabin guest house with modern updates and beautiful decor. Off the beaten track, but only about 1 hour from both DC and Baltimore.
The Quartzwood cabin is the former Hawker General Store, which was previously located just across the Potomac River from us in Maryland. Sometime in the 1970s, the previous owners of Quartzwood purchased the timbers of the falling down building (legend has it they paid $1) and carefully reconstructed it on-site. They left us the recipe for the chinking in between the enormous timbers. You'll love its huge, rough-hewn American Chestnut logs and the wide floor boards. The decor is a mix of primitive, vintage, and contemporary furnishings. We've outfitted the space to make it a comfortable home away from home for you: a king platform bed, luxurious Belgian linen sheets, fluffy 100% cotton towels, bathrobes, organic coffee and tea, a small refrigerator, homemade granola, and more.
The cabin has electricity, internet, and has seasonally available heating and cooling as well as its own fireplace, but it does not have its own plumbing. A full bathroom for your use is located in our main home, just 50 feet from the cabin's location.
Available April through October; subject to change.
